Why you should not hire me.

Now I know you must be wondering, “what kind of reverse psychology BS” am I pulling, right? Wrong! If you have made it this far, you probably like my ish, or at least think I’m funny (both a boost to my ego) and are curious how I could possibly spin this in my favor. Jokes on you. I’m not. I know y’all are probably busy guys and gals who could never fall for such simple tricks, so here’s a list ready for the reading of why I shouldn’t get the job.

  1. I can make mistakes

I know. No copywriter in the history of advertising has ever made a mistake, especially when talking to recruiters. But, alas, I do. I also own up to them. Missed punctuation, a word with a few different spellings got the wrong usage, my copy didn’t hit the mark during the first review. It happens, I always take ownership of the error, and everyone moves on.

  2. I like the oxford comma

I know, I know. There’s a deep dark hole for every ad copywriter who likes the oxford comma (curse you AP stylebook). I made a whole other diary post about it. Go read it. Blah, blah, blah.

  3. I write too much

*Gasp* A copywriter who likes to write? Who would have thunk it. It’s part of the reason why I started writing this diary. But, the deeper I get in this field, the more I realize people don’t really read that much. I have handed over a copy with a few variations and I often see eyes glaze over. So, if you don’t want options, feel free to choose someone else.

  4. I can be opinionated

Need someone to tell you that logo kinda looks phallic, like an imitation of something else, or just kinda odd? I’m the gal for you. Do I also want you to give me your two-cents about my copy? Sure! Critiques are awesome and everyone on a team should be vying to make their best work. I do go by the sandwich method though, I love a good compliment, critique, compliment. I’m not a monster.

There are dozens of other reasons for why you should not hire me, but these are definitely the top four. If you need more, feel free to hit me up for an interview and I can give you the complete list. Hope this made your job easier today!
